7 Traits Common to the Warrior of the Light

My life is good, REALLY GOOD
~Nacho Libré

What can I say? I love myself, and I love my life. I walk confidently on this earth, comfortable in my skin, and in opposition to conformity.

Success is available to ANYONE who wants it. Your mind and your attitude toward life will either make you or break you.

I go to bed every night right after meditating under breathtaking Pacific island sunsets. I wake up every morning with a sweet island breeze blowing through my bedroom window as I watch the sunrise over the ocean.

Living a life of freedom takes courage and sacrifice. If we want things to change for the better in our lives, then we have to be prepared for the peril that accompanies the leap of faith.

If it were easy everyone would do it. If it were easy to live an amazing life doing only the things that we love, then every single person would do it. But it isn’t easy. It’s ridiculously difficult. Only the strongest willed humans earn the right to success. Only those that are ok with enduring years of growth before arriving at their goal will ever find real success.

Are you willing to dedicate your life to an end point that you cannot see?

Those individuals who lack the wherewithal to withstand the struggle will remain seated. They will stay on course their whole lives, never venturing out of the cave to actually experience life. They will laugh at those on the battlefield calling you crazy and a fool. They will live every year of their lives over and over and over again.

A burning ball of resentment will begin to grow in their heart, and they will become depressed and unhappy. They will silently watch you and wish that THEY had the balls to live life on their terms. They will go to bed each night dreading the next day where they will exchange their precious time for a job that they cannot stand. They will spend their LIFE doing something they hate for the SAKE Of conformity and comfort.

But not you, my friend. You are what I like to call a warrior of the light. You have somehow found a way to elevate your consciousness to a new level. You see the world for what it is, and you have decided to create a path that best suits you and your interests. You are building a life around the things that make you happy. This mode of thinking is the way of the warrior.

Below I have listed seven traits most common amongst true warriors of the light:

1. Savors the Moment

“Life is a preparation for the future; and the best preparation for the future is to live as if there were none.”
― Albert Einstein

This moment is all that we have, give it everything you’ve got. The past will never return, and you cannot change it. The future is non-existent and may never arrive. Focus on the present moment, and begin to move forward to the best of your ability regardless of your circumstance. A way will be made.

2. Respects Obstacles

“The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.” -Marcus Aurelius

Obstacles are there to let you know that you are moving in the right direction. Welcome obstacles and give thanks for struggle because these are the things that will eventually mold, prepare and propel you to where you need to be.

3. Utilizes the word “No”.

“…there are often many things we feel we should do that, in fact, we don’t really have to do. Getting to the point where we can tell the difference is a major milestone in the simplification process.”
― Elaine St. James

Don’t do things that you don’t want to do. If it doesn’t sit right with your soul, then it is perfectly okay to say no. Only do things that make you happy. Follow what feels good.

4. Stays Positive through darkness

Strength comes from struggle. When you learn to see your struggles as opportunities to become stronger, better, wiser, then your thinking shifts from ‘I can’t do this’ to ‘I must do this.’  –Toni Sorenson

No matter how hard it gets, keep a smile on your face and your head to the sky. Keep moving forward; your positive mindset is one of the most powerful tools that you possess for traversing the darkest days of your life. The greatest thing about a positive mindset is that it is available to everyone.

5. Believes in himself completely

“Don’t waste your energy trying to change opinions … Do your thing, and don’t care if they like it.”
― Tina Fey

The vision wouldn’t have been placed in your heart if you weren’t capable of making it come to life. You have greatness within you, never let anyone tell you otherwise. If you believe that anything is possible for your life, then it is.

6. Bows to no human

“When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everyone will respect you.”
― Lao TzuTao Te Ching

Never compare yourself to anyone. If you are living authentically and following your own path, you will end up where you need to be. There is no competition; there is enough for everyone. If you are always competing and comparing, then you are living in a state of lack. You are original; this universe has enough supply to go around. Nobody can affect the world the special way that you can. Claim what’s yours.

7. Carries a shield of Faith

“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien

Walk with faith in your mission, confidence that this universe works in perfection. Fear is nothing more than faith in the darkness of life. The moment that you doubt your vision is the time that your idea remains a vision.  You do not need a clear picture of how everything is going to play out, just walk toward it with a deep knowing, and you will be amazed at the way things line up for you. Believe that it will happen.
